How voice is affected

Growths: extra tissue that forms on the vocal chords, stopping the chords from working normally

Hormones: Hormones that control growth and female and male hormones can cause voice disorder

Misuse of the voice: Vocal chords can be stressed when using them too much. This can be bad because it causes problems with the muscles in your throat.

Vocal abuse: can cause voice disorder (anything that strains the voice such as screaming, clearing the throat too much or smoking.)

Inflammation and swelling: inflammation from surgery, illnesses that have to do with breathing or allergies, some medicines, vocal abuse, alcohol abuse, smoking, and exposure to certain chemicals

Nerve problems: Some medical conditions can control the nerves that direct the vocal chords. Nerves can also be injured by surgery and inflammation of the larynx (laryngitis)

Muscle degeneration: Muscle Degeneration is when your muscle slowly start to decompose and fall apart, making it impossible to use them. Think of it like compost. Once your food starts decomposing you can't reverse the process; it's the same with muscles.
